The George Hotel – Market Place, Castle Cary, Somerset, BA7 7AH
The George Hotel is a 15th century country hotel based in the town of Castle Cary. The hotel itself is situated in the Market Place, which is the centre of the high street. It is nestled in the beautiful undulating hills of south Somerset. The historic market town of Castle Cary still remains a local and national attraction. It has managed to preserve many historic features of the town, such as the Round House, Horsepond and many other local buildings, dating back to the 16th century.
The hotel is owned and managed by Daniel Patrick along with family and staff. Our aim is to provide our guests with a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay, whether it is for business or pleasure.
The hotel has two main bar areas, offering an extensive range of excellent food and drinks. We also run a full a la carte restaurant 6 days a week.
The main bar has retained its character with the original inglenook fireplace and elm beam, said to date back to the 10th century. The bistro bar is an open dining area offering both lunch and dinner menus for a more informal atmosphere.
The George Hotel, which was originally a coaching inn, now has 17 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms. We are able to offer colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, radio, telephone, iron and board and hairdryer.
We also have five courtyard bedrooms, one of which is our honeymoon suite. They all have external access allowing us to accept pets. Please let us know in advance if you require one of these bedrooms. Pets are also permitted in the main bar area.
